Coterie is a custom furniture company located in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, IL. Not only do we design and build beautiful heirloom pieces that stand the test of time and can be handed down from generation to generation, but we build-out bars, restaurants and retail spaces, and are no strangers to large scale projects like custom paneling, upgrading gym locker rooms to private club rooms, and producing furniture for multi-room spaces; corporate offices.
Whatever void you have in your space, design you have in your head, or rough you've stumbled upon that needs a special diamond, Coterie will sketch, design and build a solution using years of experience, craft and skill. We love the idea of families gathering around our tables, and regulars at our bars. In the end, we know that people always stay where they find beauty.
Hi there! We are Jaime and Carrie and we are Coterie. We will will listen to your idea, sketch a design and get to work building something amazing that will solve your problem and bring you joy.
Jaime got his creative and technical mind because his parents let him learn by playing and building on their farm in Ohio. As a teenager he apprenticed to learn old-world craftsmanship, carpentry and building techniques that helped him start a career in building and design as well as, project management and contracting. Jaime is well versed in all aspects of small and large-scale projects; he has renovated farmhouses, restored pieces to new life, built out boutiques, and managed the construction of condos, he has built us some incredible pieces that we’ve kept for ourselves. In 2004 he started his own design company that served as a foundation for the collaboration of artisans to design and build projects for commercial, restaurant, retail establishments and private homes; it eventually evolved into a custom furniture and cabinetry design shop, which specialized in projects that featured high-quality fine finishing, painting and murals.
We started Coterie in 2014 on our second wedding anniversary after we decided we wanted to work for ourselves and with each other.
